Privacy Policy

1. Our promise in one sentence

Your personal information is never sent to, sold to, or shared with any employer, recruitment agency, advertiser, or other third party for their own purposes. Tevola exists to protect job seekers — not to feed their data to the hiring industry.

2. What we collect

  • Account details — your email address and sign-in credentials when you create an account.
  • Job checks — the links, pasted advert text, and screenshots you submit for checking.
  • CVs — PDF documents you upload to compare with job adverts. These are private to you.
  • Feedback answers — your answers about what happened after you applied (replies, outcomes, data handling).

3. How we use it

  • To analyse job adverts and return trust scores to you.
  • To avoid re-analysing the same advert when someone else submits it.
  • To compare your CV against adverts you choose, at your request.
  • To calculate anonymous, aggregated company ratings. Individual answers are never shown to other users or to companies — only totals and scores once enough responses exist.

Recruiter names, email addresses, and phone numbers that appear in adverts are never displayed on the site, even though they may be processed during analysis.

4. What we never do

  • Send your details to companies or recruitment agencies.
  • Sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
  • Share your CV, screenshots, or feedback answers with employers.
  • Use your documents to train models or for advertising.

5. Processing and storage

Your data is stored securely in our hosted database and private file storage. Screenshots and CVs are stored privately and are only accessible to you (and to the automated systems that process them on your behalf). Advert analysis is performed by an automated AI service that processes the advert content transiently to produce a result; it does not receive your account identity.

6. Your rights under POPIA

Tevola operates in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). You have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • deactivate your account so access is blocked and your account records become inactive;
  • object to processing of your personal information.

You can deactivate your account in Account settings, or contact us about another privacy request. We hold companies on Tevola to the same standard — their ratings reflect whether they honour candidate data-destruction requests, as POPIA requires.

7. Retention

We keep your account data while your account is active. If you deactivate your account, access is blocked and the records are retained in an inactive state so checks, ratings, and audit history remain reliable. Contact us if you need to make a separate legal request concerning your personal information.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows the current version. Material changes will be made visible on this page.
